GDPR: Guide for Solicitors

The countdown is on to the 25th May 2018 for the European Union’s (“EU”) General Data Protection Regulation  “GDPR”) which is a significant shake up of data privacy legislation.

Following a busy 2017 TLO Risk Services have expanded their Birmingham Offices on Ludgate Hill, Jewellery Quarter with the appointment of Rebecca Monks as Finance Manager.

Becky heads up the finance department at TLO. Her career to date spans over 12 years working in finance within both commercial and insurance sectors. Becky joined underwriting agency Primary Broker Services in the early stages of its development (latterly Primary General) supporting through a period of intense and rapid growth from one to seven sites. Becky furthered her career as Management Accountant with acquisitions broker Cullum Capital Ventures covering the Midlands region. More recently administrating the finances for No5 Chambers in Birmingham (a highly regarded large set of Barristers Chambers with four sites) Becky’s experience provides a unique understanding of our clients and insurer partners business.

The One Hundred and One Dalmatians which ran from 30 November until 13th January, the theatre appealed for 101 businesses to give hundreds of young people the chance to visit the theatre last Christmas.

The aim of the 101 business appeal was to provide light relief around the Christmas period for local disadvantaged children and families, for whom the festive period is a particularly difficult time.  With this 108 businesses supported The REP's appeal, and TLO were pleased to be one of them. All together the appeal raised a fantastic £34, 725.75 which provided over 1300 tickets for local children and families.

This project was formed as part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge and as a result a number of the donations were doubled

TLO are very pleased to be one of 101 businesses in Birmingham to help The Birmingham Repertory Theatre in their appeal to provide tickets for local disadvantaged children and families this Christmas to see their Christmas production of ‘The Hundred And One Dalmatians’

The recipients include terminally ill children, families living in sheltered accommodation and children with severe learning disabilities.

TLO were very pleased to support the LawWorks and Bar Pro Bono Unit's first ever joint carol concert at Temple Church on Monday evening which was attended by around 430 people.

The event raised over £17,000 which will be shared between the two charities equally and which will be used to help many more vulnerable people who need free legal help.

TLO are proud supporters of the Shackleton Foundation and were delighted to sponsor and attend their 10th anniversary party at the RAC Club in London. 

Guests included current and past trustees, representatives from supporting foundations and 14 of Shackleton Leaders. Bill Shipton, Chairman, spoke about the journey that the Foundation had been on over the past 10 years and the success it had in raising over £530,000 and funding 38 leaders to date.

Bill also thanked all those who had made the success of the foundation possible, remembering particularly founding trustee, Henry Worsley and his wife Joanna, who had been the Foundation’s administrator until 2014.
