16 May 2023 – LONDON - Specialist Risk Group (SRG) has acquired TLO Risk Services. TLO is a leading firm of professional risk specialists, who will play an integral role in the development of SRG's professional lines capability.

Specialising primarily in the legal sector, TLO provides insurance solutions to a wide range of firms and individuals that provide professional advisory services.  These include barristers, law firms, arbitrators and mediators, as well as accountants, investment agents, surveyors and estate trustees. The team at TLO has deep expertise of the professional indemnity market, which is underpinned by its highly respected contract and claims support.  This means that TLO can provide tailored insurance solutions to firms of all sizes. 

The acquisition of TLO enhances SRG’s professional lines offering and expands its capabilities to cater to the insurance needs of firms across a range of sectors. TLO will sit within SRG’s growing retail division, Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions (SRIS). Led by Oliver Thorne, SRIS is seeking to double in size over the next three years by pursuing an exciting acquisition and organic growth strategy.

TLO relocates in Birmingham

TLO Risk Services Limited are pleased to announce the relocation of our Birmingham office. We have been based on Ludgate Hill in the Jewellery Quarter for the past three years, but due to recent expansion we have moved to more spacious and modern office space.   We were keen to remain in the Jewellery Quarter and have chosen our new premises on Tenby Street.   This is an exciting next chapter of our business in Birmingham and we plan to host new events, meetings, networking and fundraising activities.

TLO Appoints Michael Silcock

TLO Risk Services Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Silcock as a main board Director. Mike will be responsible for continuing the development of TLO’s professional risks business.

Mike joins TLO after a hugely successful 30 year career in the insurance industry. He spent nearly 15 years at global broker Aon, most recently as their Head of UK Professions business.

Mike subsequently moved to JLT Specialty, to establish a London market PI division, before moving to Willis Towers Watson to assist in the development of their professional services division.

He has been involved in the account management, acquisition and broking of a broad range of sophisticated retail professional service firm clients, including various ‘magic circle’ firms. He has also been instrumental in developing major insurance schemes, facilities and overseas solutions.

Andrew Sayer, Chairman of TLO, commented: “Mike brings tremendous industry knowledge to TLO and has an exceptional track record of delivering growth in this industry. His appointment reflects TLO’s ambitions to grow in the professional risks sector. I am delighted to welcome Mike on board as a member of our team”.
